Osei-Duro Dan Siney Puffy Jacket - Collabo V. 1
- sold out
This jacket is a collaboration between Osei-Duro and artist Dan Siney. The jacket is hand-painted with hand-felted patchwork applique. Dan Siney is a Vancouver based artist. We met in 1994 riding the bus. He went to the large "cool" public school that was nearby our tiny hippy private school. He got progressively more cool into our twenties when he was about to make it big as a photographer and decided it was the pits and quit, turning more to drawing and painting. Dan lives about a block away from our Vancouver studio, and we thought it would be fun to soup up some ubiquitous puffy jackets together. To us, the puffy jacket is synonymous with comfort and functionality. In Vancouver, which can be a cold damp city in the winter, you sometimes have to choose between comfort and cool. We wanted to make something that you could wear, be cozy, and also turn heads. Make you want to take a closer look, but feel embarrassed to do so. The jackets have been painstakingly painted using a variety of paint, and also have hand made felted patches, that Dan worked on during lockdown. They were all sewn to the jacket by hand. Model is 5'9" and wears "one size". - Spot clean only. These are hand-painted and hand felted and should be treated with care. - Up-cycled down jacket. Nylon outer. Down feathers. Fleece lining. Osei-Duro garments are hand-dyed and each piece is unique. Please note that print placement and hue may vary. For Indigo pieces, we wash all of our indigo fabrics several times, but please note that our natural indigo pieces will crock. This means for the first few wears you should expect some color loss. This tendency is a sign of authenticity in West Africa, and the blue is considered to have medicinal properties on the skin. If you feel differently, try soaking in vinegar salutation and drying in the sun.
