Handwoven hand dyed cotton from Northern Ghana. Loose fitting unlined overcoat perfect for layering. Model is 5'9" and wears a small. This textile has a rich history, and was traded across the Sahel as a currency long before colonization in West Africa. Stripweaving from northern Ghana is now primarily made into Batakari, a loose smock that northern men dance and twirl in. - 100% handwoven cotton - Dry clean Osei-Duro garments are hand dyed and each piece is unique. The duo behind Osei-Duro travel between Los Angeles, CA and Accra, Ghana to create their coveted line of hand-dyed and batiked women's wear. Founders Maryanne Mathias and Molly Keogh work with local garment workers and artisans in Ghana to create their collections, applying traditional techniques to each piece. Osei-Duro aims to support the local apparel industry, on both a large and small scale, in becoming sustainable.
