The Boutique
What’s in a name? A whole lot, for this Montreal boutique. Lowell is a town in Massachusetts known for manufacturing textiles, Jack Kerouac, French Canadian relations and for prospering during an era when local craftsmanship was the norm. Located on the historic Saint-Laurent Boulevard, the shop keeps the characteristics of its name in mind when it comes to their accessory collections — designers and life partners Rachel Fortin and Mathieu Mudie personally know and work with everyone involved in the creation.
The Designer
Naked and Famous disrupted the industry in 2006, offering durable, affordable, unembellished jeans made from premium, Japanese-milled denim. The brand’s philosophy is based on quality, value, and a youthful, creative approach to classic workwear. As self-proclaimed denim nerds, Naked and Famous prides itself on its made-in-Canada products which include jeans, shirts, knits and jackets for men and women. Creating all sorts of non-traditional products including Glow in the Dark, 32oz, and Scratch ‘n’ Sniff jeans, the label’s drive to experiment with new fabrics, textiles and fits has gained it a well-deserved reputation as an innovator in the field.
