“Tomboy feminine” may seem like an oxymoron, but the woman behind Selva/ Negra does it perfectly. Through the label, designer Kristen Gonzalez channels her love of Annie Hall’s masculine/feminine wardrobe and her Latin heritage to inject a dose of dynamic non-traditionalism into womenswear. Combining a love of classic, boyish shapes with girly colors and cheeky patterns, the line creates artsy staple pieces that are as universally flattering as they are appealing.
