Designer Nikki Garcia's San Francisco-based First Rite offers women minimal, modern pieces that combine menswear-inspired silhouettes with classic femininity. Her focus is on simple shapes that can be worn season to season, year to year. Everything is created using high quality textiles from naturally derived fibers, and all garments are produced in Los Angeles. Seen here is her popular Pleated skirt, cut from a textured linen blend—65% linen 35% rayon—and styled with front pockets, a front slit, and elastic in the back waistband for a flattering and comfortable fit. Available in White. XS measures 25.5" in the waist and 30.5" in length; S measures 26" in the waist and 31" in length; M measures 28" in the waist and 31.5" in length; L measures 30" in the waist and 32" in length. The Boutique
Massachusetts-based boutique Nine Streets offers a selection of contemporary womenswear, home textiles, and vintage finds that celebrate craftsmanship, quality, and provenance. With a name that's inspired by a neighborhood in owner Esther de Hollander's native Holland, the seaside shop curates a sophisticated edit of charming, feminine styles from indie darling brands like Ace & Jig and Black Crane among others.
The Designer
First Rite was launched in 2015 in San Francisco, CA by designer Nikki Garcia. Years of working in all aspects of the industry from retail to small label and corporate design finally converged into the idea of a better way, a smaller footprint, a more hands on approach, personal relationships, and an involvement in the process from raw material to finished product. The result is an ongoing series of interchangeable pieces and sets designed from all natural fibers that fit effortlessly into any wardrobe and outlast seasonal trends. Our wovens are made in Los Angeles, CA using fair wage and labor practices, and our knitwear is made by a woman owned and operated workshop in Lima, Peru.
