There is no secret meaning behind this shop’s coded name. Clayton Chan, co-founder and creative director, named 017 after messing around on Photoshop and discovering he really liked the way the numbers looked together. That simple visual pushed him to build it into a brand. Situated in Vancouver’s Gastown, this shop provides an original perspective on fashion through a diverse and thoughtful selection of designers. By combing through the market for hard-to-find labels and sought-after contemporary designers, Chan stocks the space with everything from t-shirts to pants to coats that all blur the line between traditional mens- and womenswear 017’s motto: “If we don’t have full faith in a brand and their product, we simply will not carry it.” Amen.
Graduating from Antwerp's Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 2014, the South Korean designer explores contemporary urban womenswear. Expressing a stretched transition from teen to adulthood, her collections are infused with comic text and slogans drawing on irreverent counterculture.
