Mbare is a fair trade African home decor brand founded by Zimbabwe native Robbie Stewart in 1997. Operating from Athens, Georgia, Mbare—named for a Shona word meaning “marketplace”—was created to connect artisans and shoppers through sustainable trade, not aid. Known for handwoven baskets, hampers and planter baskets, the collection also includes wall fans, pillow covers and recycled glass decor, all crafted with natural materials, global style and artisanal character.
