The Boutique
Tamarind is a women’s fashion boutique with an indiscriminate multi-cultural feel inspired by the life of owner Andrea Kenner. At a young age, Andrea was influenced by Japanese design, then later she found herself pulled to the depths of Africa and South America. Pulling inspiration from each region, she opened her boutique in Sonoma’s most eclectic luxury destination: The Barlow. The shop is filled with hand-prepared textiles, soft leathers, timeless shapes and hand-hewn luxury jewels. This is the place to discover global up-and-coming designers with a unique edge.
The Designer
Having been raised in Berkeley, California by free-spirited artisan parents, fashion designer Raquel Allegra was immersed in creativity from a very young age. Today she is an innovator on the fashion scene and her signature shredding technique is instantly recognizable. Like a true artist, her design inspiration comes from the most unconventional places. Case in point: the full length webbed cocoon shapes that originated from her liberating experiments with vintage t-shirts recycled from the Los Angeles County Prison System. Today Allegra is an international success with customers all over the globe who love her lavish, bohemian style and use of recycled fabrics. Raquel has continued to keep us on our toes since hitting the fashion scene and we can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.
