Established in 2016, Los Angeles-based Days is an experimental retailer that curates independent projects around a conceptual theme, hosts thoughtful events, and provides support & feedback to participating makers. Since opening its first space, Days has collaborated with hundreds of artists and makers and hosted over 200 events, presenting a flexible, forward-thinking model of retail untethered from a specific location or idea. Our main location is currently open at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, ICA LA as Play Days: Wrong Edition. The product selections and shop events of Play Days: Wrong Edition celebrate the museum exhibiting artists’ boundary-transgressing practices and themes, upholding Days’ open-platform investigation of (dis)embodiment, trans-identity, queer futurity, community building, and expressions of desire and play through objects, clothing, and language.
Rowena Sartin is the apparel design project of Kristin Dickson-Okuda, who is also co-owner of Los Angeles concept shop Iko Iko (the other owner is her husband, Shin, who also runs a furniture brand called Waka Waka — talk about couple goals). Her collection blows out the volume and proportion of classic pieces. Many items are unisex, reversible, or offer multiple ways to wear.
