Afura is an Amsterdam menswear boutique which brings together independent and established brands sourced from around the world, with a focus on European, Japanese, and American labels. Emma Francois was first inspired to create Sessun while traveling the world and falling in love with the works of South American artisans. She began in 1998 in Paris and has since expanded the brand to include seven boutiques. Her pared down designs and beautiful, woven fabrics gained recognition and appreciation quickly and recently won the Young Designer award from the Mediterranean Fashion Institute. With a love for adventure, travel influences almost every aspect of the brand from the design process to the manufacturing. Emma has said: "If you've got no feeling for what you're doing it'll never work!" Each collection is designed purely by instinct without a focus on the latest trends for a unique take on modern and timeless wardrobe staples.
