The designer Emma Francois decided to leave her master's degree in economic anthropology and engages herself, headlong, in the world of fashion. The first collection of her label, Sessun, came in 1995 and was only limited to a small number of accessories, made of natural materials, with South American mountains design inspiration. After winning the award for young designer of the year of the Mediterranean Fashion Institute, she presented her first ready to wear collection at the Who's Next show in Paris in 1998. Since then, Emma chooses to move her workshop in Marseilles where she works raw materials giving rise to unique collections, impregnated with a sophisticated yet very feminine urban style. With a strong influence from music, art and photography, she staged her clothes toward her feelings and collaborates with many artists, music festivals, dance or graphic designers. Seeking to defend an ethical stance, Sessun uses organic fibers and fair trade works as much as possible. Sessun
Something on your mind? Spill! We're here to help!
Beauty rests in the eye of the beholder. So we say, be beautiful in your own way. We welcome all beauty. We believe in being playful in the deep and the shallow ends, and are inordinately excited about the unexpected and rare, wherever we find it.
Emma Francois was first inspired to create Sessun while traveling the world and falling in love with the works of South American artisans. She began in 1998 in Paris and has since expanded the brand to include seven boutiques. Her pared down designs and beautiful, woven fabrics gained recognition and appreciation quickly and recently won the Young Designer award from the Mediterranean Fashion Institute. With a love for adventure, travel influences almost every aspect of the brand from the design process to the manufacturing. Emma has said: "If you've got no feeling for what you're doing it'll never work!" Each collection is designed purely by instinct without a focus on the latest trends for a unique take on modern and timeless wardrobe staples.
