Back in 1994, Steven Alan opened his first showroom and retail shop, selling edited pieces from the collections of his favorite brands. Within half a decade, the designer had released his own eponymous label, refreshing classics with a design ethos inspired by the edge and eccentricity of New York. Two decades later, both the retail business and Steven Alan’s namesake label are proverbial titans in the industry with over 300 stores worldwide and collaborations with everyone from wings+horns to Vans to Uniqlo. In 2016, Steven Alan was honored as one of GQ’s Best Menswear Designers in America.
