THE SERIES is a brand centered around the exploration of mediums and materials that for centuries have been associated with domesticity and often overlooked and undervalued due to their regard as women's work. Reworking crochet blankets, quilt tops, embroidery samplers, and bedding into one-of-a-kind, seasonless and genderless garments is an intentional effort to give them a new life outside of the home. Each piece is created exclusively of vintage and pre-existing materials in New York. THE SERIES was founded by Ella Wiznia in 2016 while in recovery from an eating disorder. Ella began to realize the immense impact that images of unhealthy and unrealistic bodies had on her personally, and on society as a whole. Simultaneously, she began educating herself on the enormous environmental impact the fashion industry has on the planet. To protest these hurtful and dangerous practices, Ella committed to solely wearing and working with pre-existing and found material.
