Hi! Are you asking about how this season's version runs as opposed to the AW16 or AW17 ones? The AW17 ones ran a size big but this season they are true to size. hope that helps!

If I am a 30" waist and 40" hips, would the size 6 or 8 fit better?

The Boyd pants sit very high waist, just under the rib cage. The denim will stretch a little as you where it, so I may recommend the size 6. But just in case the measurements are: Size 6: Waist - 30" Size 8: Waist - 31" Hope this helps!
