Founded in 2016 by three lifelong friends, Human & Beings is the first-of-its-kind concept store in Dubai. United with the desire to bring sustainable, quality fashion into the national market of Dubai they curate collections of only the best clothing, footwear, accessories and beauty products. They handpick like-minded contemporary designers and independent labels from all around the world to combine them in a single retail space, just for you. This boutique lives by their promise to only fill their racks with pieces that feel and look great, pieces that can be used and reused, unaffected by the fast-paced world of fads. What a perfect promise to make.
Prior to designing clothes for a living, Ilana Kohn worked as a successful illustrator for The New Yorker, the New York Times and Kiehl’s (among many others) for close to a decade. Ilana began to craft ideas for a clothing line in 2011, drawing on her lifelong love of fashion, and boy are we glad she did. The Brooklyn-based designer is renowned for creating effortless, clean and classic clothing. Think relaxed silhouettes, fabric with the perfect drape and bold yet totally wearable prints and hues. Ilana’s signature move are those canvas jumpsuits and separates that elegantly frame the body while allowing plenty of room for movement. We chatted with Ilana about her past as an illustrator and where she finds her inspiration.
