I think so! These shoes run a tad big, so I think an 8 would work well. 9 3/8" is the length of the footbed, 3.5" is the widest part. This doesn't include the 1/4" sole that outlines the leather footbed. I hope that this helps!
Would you recommend sizing up or down if between sizes? I wear a US women's size 8, so I'm trying to decide between the 38 and the 39. Thank you!

Hello! These run true to size, but since you seem to be just over a US 9 I'd suggest trying the 39 first. The 40 is the equivalent of a US 10 and sounds like it might be a little too long.
