Summer can be a tricky season when it comes to your closet. You have a short window to find a tight collection of clothing that will transition you from spring and into fall. Time is of the essence so we went straight to the source for you.
We picked the brains of some of the best buyers in the business to get the inside track on the items they are stoked on for summer. See below for your shortcut to the good stuff you can wear now.
"For Vancouver, I think this light Margaret Howell sweater is ideal throughout the summer. I love the weight of this one and the wool/linen blend," Saager Dilawri of Neighbour says. "It is hand knit on a wooden frame so the style is a bit more interesting than most sweaters. I also think the color is unique but simple to pair with any outfit."

"I'm really into wide cut pants this season. Especially during the hot, humid summer months," says Alex Danino of Rooney. "I don't really wear shorts so it's nice to have a looser cut pant that's really lightweight to keep the airflow going."

"Everyone has to have at least one pair of white sneakers for the summer and Purlicue's canvas sneaker is clean yet unique," according to Ke Wang of ANNMS Shop. "An exaggerated midsole design with glossy finish, extended heel tab and sizing tag on the tongue, designer Su Wukou's version of the canvas sneaker is revamping a classic design to say the least. The limited version with Sankuanz is added with the infamous "CHEAP" slogan on the toe cap, which is seen throughout the capsule collection."

CLARK STREET MERCANTILE
"When you think of 'summer' you sometimes forget about those cool, rainy days," Scott Meleskie of Clark Street Mercantile wisely remarks. "One of our favorite pieces this season is from Japan-based designer Still By Hand. Made of memory-shape, permanent-press and water-repellent polyester, this lightweight coat has a unique matte finish, giving it a three-dimensional feel. Love the detailing throughout, a great piece for any season.”

"My pick for summer is the Our Legacy Uniform shirt. I Ike it's military inspired oversized chest pockets and 90's style box fit," says Jon Wiebe of Leo Boutique. "It's a perfect weight for summer and easy to layer throughout the year."

"The Purple Denim 002 fit in a classic light blue wash is perfect for year round wear but specifically the warmer months," Suggests Jacob Keller of MACHUS. "The distressing, light stretch fabric, and wash make it the perfect summer pair. They’re skinny off the rack so no need to take them to a tailor. Pair them with a white tee and black Vans and you’ll look effortless."

"Such a hard decision to select one item, but if I had to I'd say the Krammer and Stoudt short sleeve Dillon shirt with blue stripe," says Luis Morales of The Ensign. "It's a classic style, but the fabric elevates this piece and makes it stylish and unique without trying too hard. Plus there's a matching short to really complete the look."

“We love the ever popular Raleigh Jones fit. It comes in three different colors and is a super lightweight cotton/linen blend summer trouser," Steve Kang of BLACKBLUE explains. "The best part of these pants is the fit: mid-rise cut that is not too skinny and not too full. Raleigh has always been known for their incomparable fits. Manufactured in Raleigh, NC.”

"As with any piece by orSlow, the Japanese-woven fabric is beautifully textured and dyed, creating subtle irregularities throughout," Liam Rodgers from Understudy. "To suit the warmer months, this shirt fits loosely, and will gain character and softness with wear and wash. Also, I love that a single chest pocket has been added to give this piece a familiar t-shirt feel.”
