TGIS. Yes, that stands for Thank God It’s Summer. The heat is finally here which means iced coffees, patios, and the daily battle of looking cute while staying cool. Deciding on your summer outfit can be easy sometimes, and then also pull-everything-out-of-your-closet-and-still-be-naked difficult. And some days you can totally pull off staying nude (hello, private deck) but, most days you just can’t. The difficult days are when we consult with our boutique buyer friends.
So we’ve asked them to share their best summer pieces. We knew going to the experts was the right move. (When is it not?). We do have to warn you that you are most likely going to want every single piece. Concrete + Water
"I have acquired my fair share of Ilana Kohn jumpsuits over the past few seasons and my obsession just continues to grow! In the summer months the Milo is such an easy piece to throw on and feel put together. I wore it on my vacation in Hawaii and then transitioned it to my life in Brooklyn with a heel and a fun lip," says Hannah Dilworth, owner of Williamsburg boutique Concrete + Water. Seriously though, how adorable does she look?!

"The handloomed Urtei Tote by Antonello is my favorite bag to recommend for warmer months. It's lightweight but sturdy and the mix of cream and navy makes it an easy shade to mix with neutral or brightly colored clothing," says Rozatayger's Elizabeth Jeffer. She adds, "I have carried this style in this colorway for a number of years and I cannot keep it in stock! Elegant and useful and it's a generous size, but not overwhelming."
One Imaginary Girl
Owner of One Imaginary Girl, Sarah Donofrio, has the cutest seasonal statement top for you. "Our high summer Duckie blouse is a lightweight cotton with a subtle metallic stripe, that shines in the sun. With the large gathered sleeves, it's the perfect silhouette to pair with a short. It's cropped and flared shape, combined with the sheer fabric will keep you cool." Done and done.
The ladies over at Vuela Boutique picked the stunning Milena Silvano Knot dress. "We love the soft comfy material and simple effortless silhouette. An easy throw-on-and-go piece for jaunts in town or a far-flung destination, brunch, music festival—and easy to pack for travel!" What more could you need?
Angela Hodgkinson from Reference Point has her heart set on two pairs of earrings: the Krikoi XL hoops by Annie Costello Brown and the Mondo Mondo Joni earrings (above). "The Joni earrings are so chic, so sweet and so minimal all at once. Perfect for summer nights out or easy days with friends."
"Summer in Jackson Hole is magnificent and we here at Habits want an outfit that fits the setting. We also want our summer outfits to be easy because we pack a lot of living into each day and we don’t have time for fussy clothes," explains owner Arcelia Hawks. "This dress (Hazel Brown party dress) and hat (Lola Hats Coconut hat) are both made in the USA by designers who perfectly reflect our vibe."
Holly Gleanson, owner of lifestyle boutique Gloria Grace, picked the Caroline Z Hurley Yucatan pink linen throw. "It's the perfect addition to your home this season. It looks amazing as a bedspread and also works as a tablecloth or a stunning wall hanging. Reach for it when you head to the beach or park this summer and create the perfect island in the sun wherever you are!"
Stand Up Comedy
Stand Up Comedy’s Diana Kim has a summer love: the Baserange Cuamba hoodie caftan. "It’s a new, super soft terry that feels like velvet. The color is light and bright for summer without being too crazy, and it’s so easy for a comfortable weekend over jeans with loafers, or over a bathing suit at the beach. Though I’ve been wearing it at night, in bed, with high socks, drinking." Sign us up.
"Our pick this season is the Haori Coat by Atelier Delphine! We've had this coat for several seasons now but it still remains one of our favorites," reveals the Sunchild team. "It's made with a lightweight Japanese double gauze cotton that is indigo dyed. It's an investment piece but totally worth it because it'll never go out of style. It also comes in Birchwood and Black!"
"My favorite item this summer is the Popoche O from Jerome Dreyfuss,” says Creative Director Cecilia Marquez “I am loving round bags right now and this is a brand new style for Jerome. Also, who doesn't love a bag with a wristlet? Two hands free means one for food and the other for rosé.". We couldn't agree more.
Human & Beings
"We're definitely crushing on LOQ's woven shoes right now. TThis is our favorite item of the season. It's trendy, unique and perfect for summer. Dress it with any outfit and it will make your entire look special," said the ladies at Human & Beings. We're also crushing hard on these beauties.
Founder and owner, Emily Slagel, went for the Lacausa Lived In Linen V. "Ripple linen makes this top a perfect summer travel piece. It's classic, functional, easy to pack and can be worn for a sun drenched afternoon nap or for glasses of Vouvray just as well." This is the kind of top you could wear seriously everyday.
Vert & Vogue
"J'adore the three lock sneaks in gold from Veja," says owner Nadria Hurley. She explains, "These comfortable kicks add the perfect touch of cool when paired with your vintage washed jeans and a tee, linen dress, silk jumpsuit, even your tux. Oui, you can wear them with everything, and they can bring you wherever you want to go! Oh, and Veja is fair trade and produces with wild, sustainable rubber from the Brazilian rainforest. They feel so good to wear."
"Our favorite piece for this season is the half zip Sidonie sweater from Harmony Paris. Inspired by '90s, Harmony’s contemporary take on this piece features an off-white scuba fabric with color blocking panels across the body and along the side of the arms," explains owner Clayton Chan. We're also obsessed with its throwback feel.
Carmel Ulbrick asked the COUCOU crew for all of their favorite pieces, so you don't just get one, but five picks. They love the Won Hundred Sadie jeans (above): "They are perfect for summer nights, they pair well with crop tops or even bikini tops! Easily throw your favorite light jacket over and you're set." They also love the Ouigal Mavis platforms, the Veda Paradiso dress, the Veda Arcade jumpsuit, and the Crescent hoop earring. Summer wardrobe? Check.

Owner, Brenda Brown, choose the Winged Jumpshort by The Podolls. "Why do we love this piece? So many reasons! It’s super easy and versatile, perfect for summer travel. Wear it during the day with sandals or sneaks, wear it at night with heels and a jacket. Boom, you’re done. It’s made of 100% cotton — great for the heat of summer — and feels amazing on the body. The fabric is hand batiked, which makes it really special and one of a kind. It’ll never go out of style: pack it away during the cooler months and bring it out for spring and summer. A total “wow" piece you’ll love for years and years."
