Buyers’ Picks: 31 Spring Pieces Our Boutiques Really Love
The sun is out (well, most days), flowers are blooming and the new spring collections are here from our favorite designers. Life is good. We are in a constant swoon as every new arrival goes live. There are so many amazing things to choose from already, which can be a little overwhelming. It's hard to decide which pieces you want to make your spring priorities.
So, we caught up with the owners and buyers from some of our favorite boutiques to find out what their favorites are. We figure it's best to go straight to the experts when making wardrobe decisions like these. Fair warning though: this might make things harder because, undoubtedly, you're going to want everything.
Briana Swords, co-owner of Brooklyn boutique SWORDS-SMITH, is currently loving the Rodebjer Girona Dress. "I love the juxtaposition of the soft, cascading ruffle with the almost digital green, black and white grid print." She also mentioned the 69 Big Button Up Jumpsuit, which is a best seller for them. "It looks great dressed up with heels for an event and also works as a casual denim style."
New Classics Studios
It's safe to say everyone has totally fallen for Suzanne Rae's footwear debut. "We can’t get enough of Suzanne Rae’s first-ever shoe collection. Mindfully made in a China-based factory that employs highly skilled, well-treated and fairly paid workers, this mule is such a sleek must-have for any spring outfit!" says Alyssa Lau, owner of New Classics Studios.
Charlie & Lee
It's hard to pick just one piece so Kleah Michnik over at Charlie & Lee gave us her top two: the Sunja Link Drape Dress in Silver and the Osborn Dorsey Flats in Dune. "This linen dress is equally ideal for a special event or with flats for a day hanging around town or the beach," says Kleah. She adds in that the "shoes look great on all skin tones and match everything."
Saint Cloud's creative directer Cecilia Marquez went for the Sunja Link Patch Pocket Dress in Navy Poplin. "We are loving this dress because it's so chic and easy. Lightweight and perfect for our hot southern weather; it's also a great layering piece. The navy poplin version is a Saint Cloud exclusive."
One Of A Few
Michelle Rizzardo, owner of One of a Few, has picked the Leopard Dahl by Rachel Comey (one of our favorites too!). "It truly is a work of art. Each mule is hand-stitched by artisans in Peru and can take up to six hours to complete one pair. The heel is the perfect height and the texture is unlike any other shoe on the market right now. The neutral palette of the embroidery makes them easy to wear while making a big statement."
Over at Sunchild they picked the Kowtow Building Block Lounge Pant but really they are feeling everything and anything from this line. "We love Kowtow's Building Blocks line because it's made up of timeless basics at a really great price. This clothing line is made for hanging out with friends, lounging at home and anything else your day throws at you. The brand's vision is something we can really get behind as well. Each piece is certified fair trade and organic. Their employees are paid a living wage including social security benefits, pension funds, medical insurance, paid leave, overtime pay, subsidized lunches, free schooling for their children and they spend their working hours in a well-lit, ventilated and spacious environment."

The giu giu Nonna set (top + skirt) is Brookes Boswell's go-to look for spring. "It was originally designed and manufactured by the designer's grandmother in the '70s, and it’s as relevant today as it was 35 years ago. Classic, flattering, tactile and pleasing in every way. The Band-Aid color is a perfect peachy blush that is perfect for spring."
Whitney Goodman went for the Veja Espera 3 Lock Sneaker in Sable. "We started carrying Veja last season and I’ve been obsessed ever since. I’m all about comfortable, easy-to-wear, pieces, and nothing is easier than velcro. I’m also very into this creamy color paired with a cropped jean or easy dress in the spring."
The Esby Lucia Seamed Canvas Pant is "on the top of my must-have list for spring. Pair it with your favorite crop top and flats... and you have a perfect spring uniform! Oh and did I mention it's high-waisted?!" says Marichelle Hills owner of lifestyle boutique MEUS. We love these perfect go-to pants. They seriously look good with everything.
Over at Oak Common, they picked the Hygge Kimono Jacket. "This kimono was created by the Bay Area design duo, Hygge. Crafted from this unique splatter painted denim, it is also lined with Japanese cotton in a distinctive black and white windowpane pattern. It includes side pockets that deep enough to hold a phone and wallet. This is the ultimate layering piece for chilly Bay Area nights." We're sold.
Hazel & Rose
The Esby Allison Crop Jumper is Emma Olsen's spring love. "I was obsessed with the Esby Duffy Jumper in the fall and now they've translated it for spring in the best way: sleeveless, cropped wide leg, and a breezy linen and cotton fabric. The absolute best part of this garment is that it's reversible! This will be my spring, and summer, uniform."
Holly Gleason, owner of very rad New York homegoods boutique, has the Granite Epoca Vase on her mind. "This striking, hand-painted Epoca Vase from female duo the Granite is my favorite new object in the shop this spring. It looks great on display in your home, with or without flowers. And the inside is glazed so it also works as a striking carafe!"
Spring's shoe game is going to be strong with Amanda Vega's top pick: the LOQ Villa Pump in Nectar. "I love the gals of LOQ, Keren and Valerie. They've made the perfect pump that is chic yet comfy. Hello?! That amazing square block heel! I get compliments on my Villa Petrol Baby Blue colored ones all the time (get them on sale RN via Kaleidos here) and cannot wait to get the beautiful lemony yellow color in the shop for spring!"
Better; for Living
Over at Better; for Living they've got total Eckhaus Latta fever. "Our favorites so far for the SS17 season are all Eckhaus Latta. These are "simple" statements from the progenitors of normcore. In particular, we are obsessed with the IUD bracelet and earrings – made in brushed silver exclusively for Better; for Living – and the extended button down. The shirt/dress/total armor is a personal must-have in these trying times."
It's all about the utilitarian look for Leo Boutique's Cornelia Wiebe. "I am obsessed with the military theme in outerwear this Spring/Summer season! I have chosen the Opening Ceremony Coach Jacket as my favorite new item. The storybook-themed embroidery is so unique and the jacket itself can be worn indoors/outdoors. It is oversized for a casual–cool look. Seriously, anybody can wear this!"
Marji De Las Alas from Vuela Boutique is crazy for anything Ilana Kohn this spring, especially the Aaron Shirt and Milo Jumpsuit. She is also loving the Rachel Gunnard Half and Half Silver Ring. "We love the simplicity of this piece that can be worn everyday. The dual curves which form the ring add to the versatility of this piece which can be worn in different ways."
One Imaginary Girl
Sarah Donofrio went for the Rita Blouse. “We love her because she hits on so many seasonal trends, while being a classic wardrobe staple at the same time. The bold colors combined with different sized patterns can pop any outfit, but we like it best with high-waisted crop pants or a miniskirt!”
Stand Up Comedy
Diana Kim, founder and owner of Stand Up Comedy, is another big fan of Suzanne Rae's spring shoes. “The Pump from Suzanne Rae’s debut footwear collection is a game-changing addition to a daily wardrobe. In white with a wood block heel, they can be worn all day comfortably, while offering a decisive, forward-thinking statement to any ensemble. It’s a lot of design originality and quality for the price point, an increasingly rare find in a sea of facsimiles."
Spring is all about soft layering with Laura Housgard's pick: the Are Studio Silk Top in Clay. "I live in button down tops, and this one from Are Studio will be no different - except that it's made from the softest silk EVER. It's the perfect piece for layering under sweaters or over silk tanks when it gets a bit warmer."
Ashley Suttle, from Los Angeles boutique elborne, is obsessing over the Siku bag by A Peace Treaty. "I love punchy and playful accessories and our crochet Siku bag by A Peace Treaty is no exception. I’ll pair mine with vintage high-waisted denim and our baby rib knit Funnel tank from Shaina Mote."
Violet's Genevieve Allen picked the Black Crane Wrap Skirt. "I've really been feeling skirts for this season and this one is so lightweight and perfect for warmer days. I love it worn together with the Black Crane Box Top because it gives the appearance of a dress, but I'd also wear this with a simple cropped tank and flat sandals."
