Holiday Dresses, Shoes, and Bags to Buy Now
The winter holidays are just a month away, which means all things seasonal are already out to play. You can find eggnog in your local grocery store, Netflix has stocked its holiday movie category, and our favorite fancy attire is coming in fast. Now that Halloween is over, it’s socially ok to start your holiday dress shopping, so let’s begin.
Below, we break down six party-appropriate dress styles, plus the shoes and bags to style them with. The holidays can be a stressful time, especially with an endless parade of events, but getting dressed for them doesn’t need to be.
THE TURTLENECK DRESS
Consider the turtleneck dress when needing to be on your most appropriate style behaviour. Conservative yet modern, this piece from Mila Zovko will get you through any office soiree or inlaw holiday dinner. Made of 100% extra fine Italian merino wool, this style hugs in all the right places, while the tame side slits keep you from feeling too reserved. Wear with a pair of taller boots and an eye-catching statement purse.
THE VELVET DRESS
This timeless fabric is the key to making any outfit feel luxurious. Put it in dress form and you could practically go barefoot to an event and still feel fancy. But, we don’t recommend that. Instead, style the Stine Goya Liv dress with glossy maryjanes and the tiniest, cutest bucket bag we know.
THE SLIP DRESS
The simple slip dress has proven to be more than bedroom attire. Take it out to happy hour, wear it to work (with appropriate layering) and most definitely consider it as a holiday hero. Unfussy yet elegant, this Organic by John Patrick signature silk slip dress is the answer to all your fancy attire woes. Wear it with a pair of sqaure toe slingbacks and a mini bucket bag for an effortlessly put-together look. Our favorite oxymoron.
THE KNIT DRESS
Cold weather calls for knits, so what better way to stay warm and look holiday party ready than with Morph Knitwear’s silk knit dress? Its semi-sheer fabric and slightly flared silhouette, elevate it from sweater dress to celebratory dress. Go ahead and add a pair of suede, chocolatey brown block heels and an unordinary wristlet that just might steal the show.
THE METALLIC DRESS
We can’t exactly pinpoint what it is about the holidays that make us want to add some sparkle to our wardrobe, but we can tell you a gold silk metallic dress will be the talk of any party you wear it to. Take the Kamperett 'Vuelo' dress. With its strapless fit, shell button front and oversized tie at bodice, it’s the perfect pop to wear to your BFF’s holiday potluck or even during the day when you want to brighten things up. Let the dress shine by styling it with a pair of sleek black heels and a black cylinder wristlet.
THE FESTIVE DRESS
Don’t be afraid to work a festive color this holiday season. The Nanushka ‘Canaan’ dress is polished, flattering and by no means screams mistletoe. Give it that fashion-forward edge by adding a modern utility belt to the waist and simple, square toe mules.
