Women We Love On Their Exclusives Collection Faves
Not to brag, but our Exclusives Collection is fleeting quickly. Seriously, pieces are selling out faster than we can drink a glass of frosé on a sunny afternoon. (And that’s fast). It is so amazing to see all the love that has come from this collection, and more importantly all the OOTD inspiration. Our feed is filling up on the daily with women rocking these exclusive pieces in their own unique ways and we love it.
From Brooklyn to Los Angeles, we are stealing styling tips and inspiration. So, we thought it would be fun to dig a little deeper and ask some of our fave style stars why they chose the exclusives piece or pieces they did (it’s hard to just pick one, trust us), and what exactly it is about indie and emerging designers they love. No doubt, their answers gave us the warm fuzzies.
PRIMECUT BUCKET BAG
LaTonya Yvette - Writer and blogger in New York City @latonyayvette
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT SHOPPING INDIE AND EMERGING DESIGNERS? As a consumer it is very important to support people you know are doing the work, and where the money is going to–the stories behind the brands and designers. Many of these designers are supporting at-risk communities, while simultaneously creating collections that we are drawn to.
TELL US ABOUT THE PIECE YOU'RE WEARING. I chose the white hair on hide bucket bag that is functional and romantic. As a busy mother, my bag needs to be able to hold a host of things, but also needs to be able to translate into a more feminine and romantic piece when I'm alone.
Aurora Vestita Set
Melissa Sonico - Writer and jewelry designer in Los Angeles @melissasonico
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT SHOPPING INDIE AND EMERGING DESIGNERS? The biggest plus is that I'm supporting the creative community, as well as the fact that I know who is making my garment and where the materials come from. It's important to support both creativity and sustainability!
TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAVES FROM THE EXCLUSIVES COLLECTION. My favorite aspect about this Aurora Vestita blouse and skirt is that they are a bit different from most of my wardrobe but I LOVE it. They're so flattering and I can see myself incorporating them with other items, like styling the top with some high waisted jeans or the skirt with a turtleneck in the fall. And I love the natural rose dye. I want everything from Aurora Vestita now!
MARIA STANLEY WRAP SKIRT
Reese Blutstein - Student in Atlanta @double3xposure
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT SHOPPING INDIE AND EMERGING DESIGNERS? For what I do on Instagram and my blog, I really like indie and emerging designers because I get to let people know about brands they might not have heard of. I also realize the importance in shopping local and giving money to slow fashion because it helps cut down on waste, and it ensures that these clothes were made ethically and the people making them are being paid a living wage. I think it is extremely important to support small brands and designers over big companies because it is a more sustainable way of life and you are helping the environment by not supporting brands who pump out new seasons of clothing every month. Also, I like supporting small brands because I know exactly who I am giving my money to, unlike big companies — you never know who truly made your clothes and who is making the profit off of the them.
TELL US ABOUT THE PIECE YOU'RE WEARING. I absolutely love the print of the fabric [of the Maria Stanley skirt]. I am super into small florals because you can just add a graphic tee and then you have a super cool outfit without much effort at all. I also love the way the skirt lays on my body. It opens up to give more movement, which is always nice in the summer, and the lightweight material makes it super easy to wear in the heat. I had been looking for a skirt with an open slit for a while and I think this is the perfect one!
KELLER NYC ELLIOT SLIDES
Chelsea Spear - Art director and producer in Portland @chelsea.spear
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT SHOPPING INDIE AND EMERGING DESIGNERS? I love that emerging designers are able to take risks and push the envelope of conventional fashion. Their pieces feel like wearable art, and I enjoy making a statement in them.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAVES FROM THE EXCLUSIVES COLLECTION. Keller makes beautiful shoes. The Elliot blue suede slides are my dream come true.
323 Pansy Dress
Virginia Calderon - Shoe designer in Los Angeles, CA @_chicadeoro
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT SHOPPING INDIE AND EMERGING DESIGNERS? I love how in touch the designer is with the consumer. it feels more personal and intimate. You get to fully understand the designer and the brand.
TELL US ABOUT THE PIECE YOU'RE WEARING. I love how fun and oversized the 323 Pansy Dress is; perfect for summer. I love a good dress that you can put a T-shirt under.
WALTZ BRALETTE + SKIRT
Taylr Anne - Fashion and lifestyle blogger, photographer and artist @taylranne
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT SHOPPING INDIE AND EMERGING DESIGNERS? I have so much respect for emerging and indie designers. Their designs are always inventive and beautiful, and I feel these designers put so much passion into their work. I love when I find collections I feel a connection to. It always makes me want to share it with others on a larger scale. In a saturated world, it’s the best feeling when able to wear something created by an emerging designer.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAVE PIECES. I chose this two piece set by Waltz Studio because as soon as I saw it I knew it would be the most flattering for my body type. As a woman with curves but a small waist, sometimes pieces make me look bigger than I am. Over the years I have learned how to dress for my body and once I spotted this two piece it was a done deal. The cut is perfect, not too revealing but ultra feminine. Paired with the right accessories, this look becomes immediately timeless.
Eleven Six Rochelle Dress
Lisa Przystup - Writer + Florist in Brooklyn @brass__tacks
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT SHOPPING INDIE AND EMERGING DESIGNERS? Buying pieces from emerging designers always feels good because you know you're supporting a small business with a big dream. I love the newness of the designs and the fact that they aren't ubiquitous — yet.
TELL US ABOUT THE PIECE YOU'RE WEARING. I'm a sucker for a sweater dress. The fact that this one came in the prettiest pale dusty pink and had fringe won me over.

DÉSIRÉEKLEIN Kinski Dress
Rachel Nguyen - Art Director + Fashion Blogger in Los Angeles @thatschic
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT SHOPPING INDIE AND EMERGING DESIGNERS? I love the strong point of view and that a part of it feels untouched by consumerism. Designers are making things for themselves and their friends, not for the mass-market, and if that happens, it's usually a happy byproduct of working hard.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAVES FROM THE EXCLUSIVES COLLECTION. I'm trying to narrow down my wardrobe to special pieces that are hard to find and replicate. This fits as a dress and a jacket - two in one! So versatile!
