Packing as Easy as 3-3-3
You’ve booked the tickets, made your reservations, and even locked down the perfect itinerary. Your vacation is so close you can taste it. All that’s left? Packing your bags to get there at last.
This is where the 333 packing method comes into play. The concept originally took off on TikTok when Rachel Spencer posted a video creating her dream fall wardrobe using only three tops, three bottoms, and (you guessed it) three pairs of shoes.
Of course, different variations on this idea have been circulating for years. From Susie Faux coining the term “capsule wardrobe” in the ’70s, to Courtney Carver’s 33 items for three months challenge, we are no strangers to the idea of minimalist dressing, and it continues to resonate decade after decade.
Spencer takes it a step further with a carry-on-friendly formula that has quickly become the internet’s new favorite way to pack. It’s alarmingly simple—mix and match nine pieces into nearly 20 different looks while saving time, effort, and overweight baggage fees.
Keep in mind, everyone’s 333 packing list will look different. Depending on your itinerary, personal style, and even the weather forecast, you can make this method work however you (and your luggage) see fit. This might mean adding in occasionware for a destination wedding or sneaking in a couple of layers for cooler evenings by the water.
Regardless of how you interpret it, using this method as a guide for your summer travel can help keep the “what if I need this?” panic at bay, while avoiding hauling a bunch of pieces around that you ultimately don’t wear. Trust us, your suitcase will thank you.
