Our Favorite Winter Fragrances
Shifting into sweater season isn’t the only change you can make to embrace the chill in the air. We’re trading our bright, citrusy fragrances for ones that set a more cozy, intimate mood. We break down four winter scent profiles and some of our favorite fragrances to match—whether you imagine yourself in a cozy cabin by the fire or snuggled up with the sweetness of the season.
Into the Woods
The goal with woodsy fragrances is to smell less like a Christmas tree and more like a forest, with layers of moss and musk, plus lighter notes for balance.
“Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.” But florals for winter? Look for floral perfumes that have notes of sandalwood, bergamot, and spice that ground the scent in a more complex, dusky tone.
Dark and Sexy
Winter is really the little black dress of the seasons, so slipping on an equally seductive scent feels in line with the times. Our favorites combine spices like coriander with moments of amber, tobacco, and saffron.
Gone are the days of sugar-cookie body sprays and other super saccharine scents. These fragrances balance warm vanilla with the sweetness of figs, smooth sandalwood, or delicate rose.
