These Spring Color Combos Are A Must
Minimal neutrals are very much a comfort zone in our world, but we’ve actually been dreaming in rainbows since we watched the SS17 collections strut down the runway. A ton of bright, happy hues made their way onto closet staples like duster coats, apron dresses, loose pants and more. From Creatures of Comfort’s saturated greens and reds (hello, Christmas colors working for spring) to Maryam Nassir Zadeh’s dusty roses, corals and lilacs, we are fully inspired to think beyond the pop of color. So, in full preparation we’ve selected three color combinations that we’ll be wearing this spring. This is what we call color therapy. So get ahead of the game, pin these looks onto your color inspo board and then as soon as the temperature rises, put them into action. Trust us, you won’t regret it.
Sunshine Yellow + Navy
Inspired by the warming sun and cool navy, this color combo is the perfect substitute for white and black. We love the saturated color and the way they bounce off each other. Start easy with a solid blue dress then add the pop of yellow in an accessory, like shoes or a bag. Once you feel comfortable go all in with wide leg pants in sunshine yellow and an indigo blouse on top. With these two colors together you’ll be nailing sophisticated modern workwear like that.
Dusty Rose + Lilac
Inspired by spring rose petals and lilac bushes, this color combo is sweet yet powerful. The combination creates an uplifting feel by reclaiming colors once labeled as “girly”. We love the idea of wearing them in soft fabrics like rose linen pants paired with a simple cotton lilac t-shirt and even adding mauve slides to match. Don’t be afraid of this pairing, they go together like a double scoop ice cream cone.
Emerald + Siren Red
This color combo is inspired by jelly beans and Christmas in the spring (sans festivities and ugly holiday sweaters). The color wheel opposites attract for a definite eye-catching look. Make sure the red is on the brighter side to reflect the saturated green. Other than that, have fun with it. Try loose red pants and a silky green cami or bold red shoes with a rich green dress. We promise you won’t look like a string of Christmas lights.
Bonus: this texture makes the color sparkle like an actual emerald.
